  • 1 lb button or cremini mushrooms
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornmeal (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • For ranch dressing: mayonnaise
  • sour cream
  • garlic powder
  • onion powder
  • dried dill
  • parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ranch dressing by whisking together mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, dried dill, parsley, salt, and pepper. Add milk to reach desired consistency and refrigerate.
  2. In one bowl, combine flour, cornmeal (if using), garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In another bowl, whisk eggs and milk.
  3. Dip mushroom slices in egg mixture followed by dredging them in the flour mixture. Let rest for about 5 minutes.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry mushroom slices in batches for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  5. Serve warm with chilled ranch dressing.
