  • 12 oz (340g) pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne)
  • 2 large onions
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil for chili oil
  • 1 tablespoon chili flakes
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil water in a pot, add salt, and cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-low heat, combine olive oil and butter. Add sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Stir occasionally for about 25-30 minutes until golden brown; add sugar if using.
  3. In a small pan, heat olive oil with chili flakes and minced garlic on low for about 5 minutes until fragrant.
