  • 1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
  • Juice and zest of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup vegetable broth
  • 12 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (or more to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  3. In a mixing bowl, toss the tofu with soy sauce, cornstarch, breadcrumbs, and lemon pepper seasoning until evenly coated.
  4. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread the tofu in a single layer.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  6. Meanwhile, prepare the sauce by whisking together lemon juice, vegetable broth, honey or maple syrup, black pepper, salt, garlic, red pepper flakes, and cornstarch in a small pot. Bring to a boil and simmer until thickened.
  7. Once the tofu is baked, cool slightly before tossing it with the sauce. Serve immediately.
