  • 7 quarts plain popped corn
  • 2 cups slivered almonds (or other nuts)
  • 2 cups packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Pop corn and place in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Toast slivered almonds in a dry skillet until golden brown, then add to the bowl.
  3. In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt; bring to a boil for 4-5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in butter, baking soda, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour caramel sauce over popcorn and nuts; mix well.
  6. Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C) and spread mixture on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
  7. Allow to cool completely before breaking into pieces.
